Loving a child doesn't mean giving in to all his whims; to love him is to bring out the best in him, to teach him to love what is difficult. -Nadia Bo

I just wanted to write another post today about my sweet boy. Out of all my children, Colin has been the hardest baby to raise. From the moment we brought him home it has been quite a trial. He cried all the time. He had colic really bad, and would only sleep in the car or on top of the dryer in his carseat. We went to great lengths trying to get this boy to stop crying and just sleep. Then he had a hernia, poor kid! He was so miserable and just an all around cranky kid for pretty much his whole baby-hood.

This month on the 23rd he is turning 4! I have seen a lot of change in him this year. Alot of his little personality has finally started to come out, and he has managed to cool his jets a bit as well. He LOVES anything to do with cars. He wants to drive in the worst way! He also loves his "honey". (Natalie) He is a good big brother. He has his moments where she gets on his last nerve, but all in all he tries so hard to show her how to do everything..which includes the usual mischief.

Another great accomplishment he has recently had is giving up his binky. I know, he is too old for it, but it plugged the crying hole! Can you blame me?? He has been officially binky-less for almost 3 weeks now. He has been really good about it, and somedays you can tell he will do anything for a binky, even rip the one out of Natalies mouth for 2 seconds, until he sees me and hands it over. I am so proud of him. I know how attached he was to it. Yesterday, while Dave was watching him, Colin was laying down for a nap. Dave came to check on him and heard him talking, so he stopped to listen. Colin had a binky in his hand talking to it. He said,
"Mommy says nooo! But I just love you!"
I thought that was so adorable. Dave said he felt awful taking it away from him, but he was okay about it, and fell asleep.
Anyway, 4 is my favorite age. He is going to be so much fun.

Oh my gosh, that is the cutest/saddest story ever for a child. It totally reminded me of Gage, when we were trying to stop him from sucking his thumb, we had the stuff on his nails. One ride home he just stared at his thumb the whole time wanting to suck it, hilarious.
